    Notes that in a recent debate in the French 'Corps Legislatif', Marie A P A, vicomte de Kervéguen alluded to the recent invention of an 'infernal machine' which 'opened the prospect of perpetual and universal peace', an accomplishment that Punch considers to be a 'devilish good thing'.
