    Discusses a Daily Telegraph article on the appearance of an alligator in the River Thames. Anticipates other exotic aquatic phenomena including a hippopotamus, crocodile, sharks, whales, swordfish, dolphins, and sea-serpents. Points out that the alligator had escaped from a menagerie and turned out to be a 'gentle lizard'.
