    Gives an account of Mark Beaufoy's and some earlier expeditions to Mont Blanc. While noting the philosophical experiments carried out by Beaufoy and others, the writer particularly emphasizes 'the dangers of the journey itself' and 'the effect produced upon the human body in such elevated situations' (61).
