Reports: 'the French government is proceeding in a spirited manner with the grand Description of Egypt', and gives brief account of their progress. Later reports that 'M. de Lalande, one of the directors of the Museum of Natural History, is preparing for a new voyage for the promotion of that science. During a short excursion to Brazil, he collected more than four thousand zoological subjects, which proves how much yet remains to be done before we can acquire just and sufficiently extensive notions of those regions'.
