Instruments, Steam-power, Steamships

The narrator is giving an 'account of the wonders of Frangistan (London)' at 'an audience with the shah at Ispahan'. The shah is interested to know if he has seen the 'miraculous spying-glass' (telescope) of which he has heard. He is incredulous when the narrator describes a steam-ship.
