An account of, and reflections on, the Canadian vessel 'Columbus'. When the vessel was being built on the St Lawrence River, 'the American papers teemed with accounts of her immense size, which were so exaggerated, that some persons thought the great ship was like the sea serpent, a hoax' (354). |
