    A 'worthy city baronet' gazing at the gas lights in front of the Mansion House, and being asked by an old acquaintance if he is 'studying astronomy', replies to the contrary that he is 'studying gastronomy'; to his friend's surprise he enquires: 'Do you doubt my voracity?'.
