    Attempts to interest the Horticultural Society in various experiments to grow vegetation in the 'arid district' of Golden Square. The unidentified experimenter's efforts include throwing sawdust on the grass, in order to make the trees look greener, and constructing artificial trees from wood and evergreen paint.
