Welcomes Thomas T F E Drake's experiments on 'modes of nourishment' presented at the Royal Agricultural Society. These included feeding sliced turnip to his horse and boiled turnip to his pigs. Following this example, announces that Punch's 'curious experiments' have revealed that boiled eggs contain a 'nutritious substance' and that common dough makes a good substitute for muffins and tea-cakes. |
