Reports that although 'Nature has behaved very amiably to the aeronauts throughout the season', she 'threw a damp' upon the 'intimacy' between 'earth and air', and caused a thunder-storm during an attempted balloon ascent from Cremorne Gardens, the site of several spectacular balloon ascents. The illustration shows a hot air balloon and its passengers suffering a torrential rain storm.
