The Daniel Lamberts of Animal Life

Anon

Genre:

News-Commentary, Drollery

Subjects:

Animal Husbandry, Breeding, Monstrosities

Describes a giant cow seen at the Newcastle show of the Royal Agricultural Society, which is twice the size of the notoriously corpulent Daniel Lambert. In the intense heat of the day the cow could have caused a huge 'river of tallow' to run through the pavilion. Notes the ability of Southdown cattle to survive the heat and pities a 'poor wheezing bull'.
