"There she lay all the day"

Anon

Genre:

News-Commentary, Drollery

Subjects:

Steamships, Engineering

Discusses news that the SS Great Britain is 'lying upon the gridiron at Liverpool'. Believes this is 'as bad as a five-barred gate to a vessel like the Great Britain' but suggests that allowing the ship 'a few bars' rest' on a gridiron is desirable after enduring a 'heavy' launch.
