Influence of the Influenza

Reportage, Drollery

Disease, Government

Describes some of the effects of the influenza on the 'public service', including the fact that Somerset House has been a 'perfect hospital' and everyone 'in attendance [...] has been speaking through a worsted comforter', while 'postmen [...] have come gasping and tottering to our doors in a most deplorable state'.
