The Zebra

Genre:

Letter, Spoof

Subjects:

Zoology, Govenment, Politics

Written by the zebra at the Surrey Zoological Gardens to Peter Laurie, alderman of the Corporation of London, it rejects the 'sneering' paupers' claim that the zebra is a mere 'Jackass in a fine coat'. Compares zebras, 'Asses in fine coats', to aldermen, 'commonest of folks in minever gowns'.
