A Study of Bad Heads

Punch

Genre:

Letter, Spoof

Subjects:

Phrenology, Display, Crime, Railways

Addressing himself to Cornelius Donovan, the proprietor of a London phrenology shop, suggests that if he wishes 'to exemplify the truth of phrenology' he should display the heads of 'notorious swindlers side by side with certain railway directors'. Adds that his faith in phrenology would 'vanish' if such a display shows any distinction between these types of heads.
