    Asks the 'Gods of Hades' to 'have mercy on a sinner' for having endured 'Six weeks of squares and triangles' and become 'but a beginner'. Complains that 'These cosine thetas to the nth / Will drive me crazy soon [...] And bring me home the Spoon'. Wishes he was 'a bold Bargee' with 'Miller's hydrostatic lore', or a 'Gyp' [university servant] with no worries about mathematics.
