    Reports on the lecture on optics delivered to the Académie des Sciences in Paris by statesman Henry P Brougham (1st Baron Brougham and Vaux), later published as Brougham 1853. Purports to be shocked that Brougham promised to give 'the greatest Optical Illusion that ever visited a nation' and proceeded to produce 'a phantasm of Louis Napoleon'.
