Discusses an advertisement in The Times reporting the transmission of a box by the telegraph. Upholds the 'quick transmission of packages' to be a 'desiderata of the age' but, having been puzzled by the meaning of the advertisement, notes that the transmission of a box by telegraph 'is surely quite enough to startle the scientific world'.
