The American Horse-Tamer

News-Commentary, Drollery

Animal Behaviour, Animal Development, Education

Discusses the power of 'the American, John S. Rarey [...] over untrained and vicious horses'. Notes that the horse tamer 'communicated his secret to Sir Richard Airey', who allegedly told Punch that Rarey's secret involved telling the horse, 'If you don't obey, old hoss, I guess I'll read you something out the Morning Star'.
