    Describes the celebrations held in honour of the 'triumph of the telegraph'. Reports on the large number of cases of lunacy amongst even the 'wisest men in England'. The celebrations include hoisting the SS Leviathan to the top of Primrose Hill where it was exploded 'at an altitude of fifteen thousand fathoms', and illuminating the country with special arrangements of gas lamps.
