    Owing to the variation of clocks, introduces speeches made in 'honour of the laying of the Atlantic cable' to be held next week in New York. The speeches illustrate the small financial contribution of the British to the cable enterprise, uphold Benjamin Franklin and Cyrus W Field, but also praise 'the Almighty dollar, and its kindred rights of free expectoration, annexation, and wopping your own nigger'.
