    Reports that the 'celebrated Metallurgist', John Percy, has been analysing part of the cracked bell 'Big Ben' in the Palace of Westminster, but 'declines to infer of what other parts of him may be made, a decision creditable alike of the learned philosopher's judgment in metals and in men' (189).
