The Galvanic Crinoline!

Anon

Genre:

News-Commentary, Drollery

Subjects:

Amusement, Electricity, Light

Discusses a report in the Athenaeum on the coronet of Empress Eugénie of France, which is 'irradiated by electric light'. Noting that this invention requires a 'steel hoop' on which to carry the battery, suggests that this is how it is going 'to make a man's fortune', and describes a possible design for a battery built into a crinoline dress. Ends by identifying Isaac L Pulvermacher's 'Galvanic Chain' as another solution to the problem.
