Discusses a report in the Morning Post relating that King Kamehameha IV of Hawaii (then known as the Sandwich Islands) delighted in his prime minister wearing Scottish costume. Speculates on how much the same dress will be enjoyed by 'aborigines of the Coast of Africa', and urges that missionaries should accordingly use it for travelling and for charming the natives away from 'prostate barbarism'. |
