    Written in a Scottish dialect, the author describes the battle of Walter F Scott (5th Duke of Buccleuch) against moves to construct a Thames Embankment. Opens by noting Buccleuch's opposition to William F Cowper and Joseph Paxton who 'ha 'ta'en Whitehall-Roadway up' and after a detailed account of Buccleuch's struggles concludes by noting the destruction of the architect James Pennethorne's plans, and the vanquishing of Buccleuch.
