    Discusses a report in the Scotsman of a 'Live Toad found in a Coal-Field' by a Scottish miner. Punch thinks this contradicts associations of Scotland with philosophy and asks for a Scotsman who could prove he had made this discovery to 'take good care to preserve a curiosity so valuable'.
