    Continuing the parody of the activities of the British Association for the Advancement of Science, the spoof statistical section's luminaries have names based on statistical practices: for example, the vice-presidents are Mr Littel Witte and Dr Addem. Reports on Mr Boy's paper on 'Contributions to Academical Statistics', which concerns itself with such recondite information as the 'average length of slate pencils' and the use of sponges to clean slates.
