Mr Punch is the recipient of several toasts at a banquet held to mark the silver anniversary of the periodical. He is toasted by Cowper P Coles for enabling him to 'carry my Turrets against officialism', and by the president of the Royal College of Physicians, Thomas Watson, who praised Mr Punch for upholding 'the glorious Art of the Healer, and crushed and trampled on Quackeries' (iii–iv). |
