Supports a proposal made in the Pall Mall Gazette to urge people 'plethorised with magazines and newspapers' to save them for 'our hospitals and workhouses', where they may 'lighten many a heavy hour spent on the sick bed of a hospital' or in prison or a workhouse. Explains how people could donate parcels of such reading matter each month, and anticipates the 'treasure' that Punch would be in a hospital.
