    Discusses an article in the Tablet describing how a 'French nobleman' has presented the pontifical government with fifty thousand Francs for 'breech-loaders'. Noting the 'divers breech-loading rifles', wonders which variety will be adopted by Pope Pius IX, suggesting that he will have 'an arm of infallible precision' rather than an Enfield 'converted to Popery'.
