Compares the false stories promulgated by the 'Johanna men' about David Livingstone's death to the lies of Joanna Southcott (Southcott is spelt 'Southcote' suggesting an allusion to the Secretary of State for India, Stafford H Northcote). Notes the 'pride' with which Roderick I Murchison announced 'brave' Livingstone's safety and return home, and dismisses a recent bust of 'the late' Livingstone in favour of a real 'Living Stone'.
