This response to Henry E Manning's recent explanation of Pope Pius IX's syllabus of errors consists of a list of 'errors' with the names of the authorities Punch has consulted. Includes the error that 'That the sun goes round the earth. [Prof. Airy]', 'That Archbishop Manning believes that the liquefying pomatum is the blood of S. Januarius.
