    Notes a discussion on a Rembrandt painting in the National Gallery which prompted James H Harris (3rd Earl of Malmesbury) to suggest that 'the only way of assuring oneself as to the origin of an old picture was Spiritualism' (46). Also notes the 'immense majorities' in favour of the Electric Telegraphs Bill.
