    Noting that the Archbishop of York, William Thomson, has begun a series of lectures 'designed to counteract the progress of unbelief among the educated classes of society', points out that the talk was 'specially directed against the theory of Development of Species'. The writer asserts that he can contribute to the 'desirable end' of the lectures with the lines 'Would you win Latitude? / Will you by Platitude?' and urges that 'your discourse should never be as long as it is usually wide'.
