    The initial letter forms part of a large illustration showing the complex distilling apparatus by which Mr Punch (shown) produces 'essence' of Parliament. It is dominated by large glass vessel in which stand leading statesmen of the day and the Palace of Westminster. Into this vessel flow glass tubes which are secured to the vessel with bungs made from royal crowns.
