Reports on a paper at the Meteorological Society linking the opening of Vauxhall Gardens to a long spell of wet weather. Notes the debate over whether merely announcing the opening of the gardens would have the same effect as executing that action. Adds that the introduction of a bill to explore this effect did not cause a 'lowering of the weather'. The latter was due to anticipation of the opening of the gardens.
