Suggests that Dante Alighieri, 'the first Christian prophet who has given us a revelation without the pretension of any miraculous intervention', may prove 'the missing link between belief resting on theological dogmas and a coherent social faith, of which science will be the handmaiden'. In this new reformed faith, 'Men of science' will be 'regarded as the best soldiers in the ranks of the truly religious'.
