    In an account of the remarkable success of In Darkest England, and the Way Out, which is currently being 'discussed everywhere' (652), the author notes that 'Professor Huxley objects to the rise of a new religious order', although the 'chief objections come from the militant Socialists, who seem to regard the General as poaching in their domain' (651).
