Character Sketch: August. The New Cabinet

Anon

Genre:

Regular Feature, Biography

Subjects:

Psychology

Justifies the departure from the usual format of the monthly character sketch by observing that 'After the curious evidence which psychological science has adduced to prove the multiplex character of the personality of the individual, it is not difficult to conceive of the Cabinet [of William E Gladstone's new government] as a personality only a little more complex than that which is possessed by any of the subjects of our previous sketches' (235).
