    Complains that 'periodicals written by savants and specialists [...] have the disadvantage of the scientific division of labour; they emphasise division and isolation in science, and what is written in them meets the eye of the specialist for whom it is originally intended rather than the general public'. The newly enlarged Preussiche Jahrbücher, however, will endeavour to 'make special articles on politics, literature, and science interesting and accessible to the whole reading world'.
