    In remarking on how sometimes 'a book or pamphlet achieves a great success in one country while remaining totally unknown across the frontier', observes that 'Of this a notable illustration was supplied the other day by Kneipp's book on the Water Cure, which although it had achieved a circulation of hundreds of thousands in Germany, was only published last year in an English dress' (433).
