George B Halsted Educational Review

Mathematics, Ancient Authorities, Education, Schools

Reports that the new geometry developed by Nikolai I Lobachevsky and Georg F B Riemann will at last placate the 'innumerable schoolboys whose lives were made miserable because they presciently maintained the "stupidity" of Euclid', and suggests that 'even the dullest of non-mathematical boys will derive some comfort from knowing that in the higher sphere of science the hoary tyrant has been dethroned'.
