An editorial note introduces the article as having been 'received from a Gentleman of high rank, now resident at Berlin' (719). The translated extract describes the medical cases and their treatment, based on the practice of a peasant. The original extract was itself based on an account which appeared in the Vermischte Abhandlungen aus dem Gebiets der Heilkunde in 1821.
