    Observes that the art of music was one of the earliest human inventions. Cites William Derham's observations in his Physico-Theology on the divine goodness demonstrated in the creator's indulgence in enduing humans with 'the power or faculty of invention' and enabling them to cheer and entertain themselves by the art of music (240).
